5W Peltier Cooler
with Temperature and
Timer Cutoff Control
This design takes 12V jack power to drive both a 12V fan and a 5V thermoelectric Peltier cooler. A buck DC/DC converter takes a 12V input and outputs a 5V rail to power the cooler. Using an external thermocouple connection, the cooler temperature is monitored to avoid overheating. At above 150F, the cutoff circuit disables the buck converter, leaving the fan powered until the temperature drops below the set point. Additionally, an overall timer of 8 hours will disable power to the entire system via the main load switch.
